Chris Kandelas founded Allcare Maintenance Services in 1993. He has been working in the commercial cleaning and building maintenance industry for over 40 years.
Background
Chris started his first cleaning company at 18 while a business management student at Seneca College. After several years of building that business, he sold it and spent the next stage of his career in progressively senior roles: salesman, team manager, regional manager. That time in the industry gave him a clear picture of how a well-run cleaning operation worked, and what typically went wrong in the ones that did not.
When he left to found Allcare, he started from scratch. “I started with basically nothing,” he said, “and I basically haven’t looked back since then.“
Allcare now serves 300+ buildings across the Greater Toronto Area and cleans more than 1.6 million square feet of commercial and industrial space every month.

What He Builds the Company Around
The named account manager model at Allcare is Chris’s design: every client has one person who owns the quality of the account and answers directly for what happens inside the facility. No anonymous call centre, no rotating contacts. One named person.
Account Ownership
Green cleaning was a fringe idea in the Toronto market when Chris started championing it in the early 2000s. Allcare built its entire product program around EcoLogo and Green Seal certified formulas from Rochester Midland Canada and has run that program consistently for over 20 years. “A lot of companies didn’t understand the advantages of green cleaning,” he recalls. Allcare understood them early and has held the line since.
The company’s operating philosophy comes back to the same place it always has. “The reason why we’re successful is that we take care of them. That’s the bottom line.” The ‘them’ is the crew.
